Soviets are officially made of win. Not much to say today besides the fact that I got new sunglasses (pretty b’dass ones, too. I’ll post a picture later) and that I’ll be going to some random collectibles convention later today. Hope I find something worth buying.

Aloha good folks!
Some random hunter dude cut open the bears stomach so I could get out, so here I am a couple weeks late. That and the fact that I’ve been extremely lazy since I got back, and have had a bunch of stuff on my plate. Anyway, first down to the trip: it rained every single of the days we were out, save for one where it rained just a little, then was actually clear. NOT sunny, though. On the way back home, we were all basically looking at the ball of fire in the sky like cavemen exclaiming “WTF IS THAT!?”. I also got a haircut on the trail. Well, if you can consider me sawing off my hair with an X-Acto-like blade a haircut, then it is.
At first I was using the whole knife, but then I realized I could use the blade more efficiently alone. Why did I do this at all, you ask? Well, when you’re wandering around in the bush with half your weight on your back, the last thing you need is for your stupid bangs to get wet and in your eyes. Which happened on the first day. Alot. As soon as we had a fire going I sawed off about an inch of my bangs, and some from the left side of my head, tossing it into the fire when I finally finished. What made it even better is that we cooked some b’dass steaks about 20 minutes later, and those steaks were quite possibly the highlight of the trip. Nothing beats steak cooked over an open fire. NOTHING.
As a final note relevant to the Nitinat trip, while we were doing our last 2 hour canoe venture across one of the lakes, we ended up talking about what we were going to eat first for all 2 hours. A & W Uncle Burgers won by a landslide, which we eventually ate as a huge group when we had the chance. I also had a Mozza Burger.
If you ever have the chance to do a part of the West Coast Trail, I really recommend you do it. Although I admit I would have much rather preferred having sun and wonderful weather, I still had a blast. Make sure you take reliable dry bags, though, because I’m pretty sure they saved my life. I didn’t take many photographs thanks to the weather, but I’ll see about making an online album or just posting the few I have on LoL.
Good to be back,
Anyone else into books? The title is a reference to one of the best I’ve never read. What are we all reading right now? Any reccomendations?
At the moment, I’m reading George Orwell’s 1984. I’m not very far, but it’s really interesting. It appeals to the more technically-oriented me. I’ve got a couple other classics to read whenever I get bored too, as well as several used books that I picked up for free at the newspaper’s book fair. $2 each, $3 for hard cover. Was friggin’ amazing. I picked up 15 or 20, but I met one of my English teachers who said that she had already sent out her husband with her first batch!
Anyway, some of the stuff from that pile that I plan to read includes Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar and Othello, some books by Dean Koontz, a couple by Isaac Asimov (including the Last Question), and some random books by people I have never heard of.
Any comments (even “I LOVE BOOKS!!!1”) are appreciated. Tell me anything.
Big Brother is watching.
Hey there. I failed. Supposed to have a post every two days. Ah well. Everyone have a nice weekend?
Saturday… I attended a birthday party. We went glow-bowling. Everyone was younger than me, but it was fun anyway. Then Chinese food. We were really loud and obnoxious. I think they were a little bit glad when we left, but they were nice about it.
Sunday was fun too. Helped assemble a gazebo and barbeque, then went to see the Wolverine movie with family and friends. Was pretty sweet, I must admit. Go see it.
Today was fun too. I went to my anatomy class. Eye dissection. I’ll put on some pictures later. If you want. You don’t, do you?
I had some actual content for this, but that will go on later. See you peoples later.
Well, amassed here is all the gear that I will be taking on my hiking trip, excluding some extra gear that I chucked in later such as food.
It doesn’t look like much, but bleeding bank accounts cry out in disagreement. Thank god it’s only a 5 day hike, I couldn’t imagine carrying any more food or anything for that matter. It was a pain to pack it all in my bag, but as you can see below I eventually crammed it all in. The pack itself is smaller than most of the others, but it is really densely packed which makes it weigh basically the same save a pound or two.
Anyway, tomorrow morning at 6:30 am I will be heading out to do some of the West Coast Trail, and I’m honestly not looking forward to waking up that early at all. I asked Saxon to post while I’m gone, with which he will hopefully follow through. I should be back by Friday, assuming I don’t get eaten by a bear, so I’ll post some pictures and whatnot when I return.
Cheers until then,
